An existing bill will appear in a saved search alert if it is amended with new language that meets the search criteria.
You can use Plural's saved search alert feature to get notified when an amendment that may be of interest to you is added to a bill that you are not currently tracking,
Simply create a saved search alert containing keywords from your bill(s) of interest. Once you are alerted of a new amendment that may be of interest to you, you can then choose to track the bill associated with that amendment to continue to get notified of updates on that specific bill.
Example
IL SF 4212 was introduced in 2023 as a Child and Family Services bill. It wasn't passed in 2023 and then was reintroduced by the House on May 1, 2024. Much of the original bill text was removed and replaced with an elections law, which was signed by the governor two days later.
Pro tip! Plural's AI-powered Version to Version Change Summarizer can also help you identify shell bills (example below).
