How to search for a word or phrase within bill text

Use a simple keyboard shortcut to quickly find a specific word or phrase within the text of a bill

To search for a specific word or phrase within the text of a bill, first navigate to the bill page

Once on the bill page, press the following keys on your computer's keyboard:

  • For PC users: hold down the "CTRL" (or "Windows" icon )key and press F
  • For Mac users: hold down the "Command" (or "Apple" icon)  key and press F

Once you've pressed the above keys, a small "Search" window will appear towards the top right corner of your screen.

Type the word or phrase you wish to search in the search window.

If the bill text contains the word or phrase you searched for, the word or phrase will be highlighted each place that it appears in the text of the bill.

The search bar will also indicate the total number of times your searched word or phrase is contained on the page.

To save time on scrolling through the entire text of the bill, you can click the "down" or "forward" arrow within the search window to navigate quickly to each place where the word or phrase is mentioned. (Clicking the "up" or "back" arrow will take you to the previous mention of the word or phrase).

Note: using this keyboard shortcut will indicate all places that the searched word or phrase is found on the entire page -- including if the word or phrase is somewhere on the page outside of the bill text.
